The present in prism: Adam Eli Feibelman’s hypnotic glowing orbs are reminiscent of the sun as it appears in the sky blighted by smoke.
Adam Eli Feibelman Artist Statement:
We Knew It Was Coming
One thing that has become commonplace in our current domestic lives is the necessity to stay inside. Shelter in place. Look out the window and watch as the topic of so much discussion (climate change and Covid) becoming our reality. The ignored signs described what our situation might be. In this work I wanted to reflect the allure of seeing things so foreign to our eyes, but also keep the viewer inside, seemingly to protect them from the scorch of the fires, of the sun, and the thick toxic smoke. In this piece there are seven main round shapes, each of them have seven echoing rings. I am using them as representations of the time spent indoors (days, weeks, and months). They are aesthetic reminders of how much time passed under the fog of disaster, because in hindsight it's hard to remember the passing of time, we remember snapshots. So my goal in this work was to solidify the time into one abstraction.
