Fanny Allié Artist Statement:

Through my textile and mixed media work I explore the questions of home, the sense of belonging, passage, ephemeral and the disappearance of the body. I create unstable and fragile structures and architectures for my characters to occupy and to be contained. These emotional landscapes born from personal and collective experiences, create a shared mythology of the spaces we inhabit daily. Figures and environment blend and reveal an unfamiliar version of the world we are used to. A rhythm of hanging elements, a choreography of gestures, body positions appear within these places of passage. The characters I depict and their shadows or traces haunt my textile pieces. They live within uncertain landscapes, hanging by a thread or on the verge of falling, like confronted to the unpredictable and the randomness of living. The figures slowly fade and merge with their environment, bordering on abstraction. They become the substance of the city that relates to the found materials I collect. Both figures and architectures seem to be collapsing simultaneously.
